You'll find Southey Park at New Cheltenham Road, Kingswood, BS15 1TN - see below for a map.
The Friends of Southey Park group formed in 2015 to promote the community use of the Southey Playing Fields in Kingswood, and to bid for funds to carry out a range of improvements to access and facilities.
Thank you to all the local residents who voted for us at Tesco stores recently - Friends of Southey Park got the most votes and we now have a £12,000 Tesco Bags of Help Grant to improve the park.
The Friends of Southey Park is led by a committee of 11 local residents, including 12 year old Gregory Watson who lives by the park and wants to help make it an attractive area for everyone to enjoy.
The group has been supported by South Gloucestershire Council and the Bristol Rovers Supporters Junior Football Club who use the pavilion and pitches.
They have held a number of public meetings to gather suggestions for priority projects.
The Friends group is now working to recruit more members.
Anyone who shares the group’s objectives of improving the community use of the playing field is welcome to join.
The group have held 3 fun events in the park for the local community, including an Easter Egg Hunt and a Summer Garden party to celebrate the Queen's 90th Birthday.
They regularly organise litter picks to improve the appearance of the park.
For membership enquiries only please telephone Karen Watson on 07502 331713.
