Beginners 'Couch to 5k' running course

Do you want to see a new, fitter you in 2019? Is one of your New Year resolutions to improve your health and well-being?
If so, why not join us on one of Active in Life (formerly SportsPound)'s ‘Couch to 5K’ beginners running courses?
This beginner friendly ‘C25K’ lasts 9 weeks and will take you from running 1 minute followed by 1 ½ minutes walking (eight times) in the week one, to being able to complete a 5km parkrun by the end of the course.
This event takes place on a gravel running track which is super kind to your joints and if you have any worries about running in public, it’s tucked away out of sight.
What’s more, this course is an ‘extra’. What does that mean? Well if the 9 week plan is too quick for you we adjust the next sessions and extend it over 12 weeks. That way we get you there more gradually. For those that complete the course in 9 weeks and do their ‘Graduation’ parkrun, we offer the opportunity to come back to Mangotsfield where we’ll lead runs for you for the next 3 weeks, at the same time giving you tips and encouragement about setting up your own group and carrying on.
What about the coaches on the course? Our run leaders are people just like you, who’ve grown to love running and want to share their passion. Lots of them got here by the same route and realise how important a super friendly sociable group is.

Our courses are priced at £10 – for those who do less than 30 minutes of exercise a week & £20 for everyone else. That’ starts at just 83 pence a week. What’s more we even give you a free technical running t-shirt when you complete the course! If you did one of our courses in the past and your running has lapsed for whatever reason, you’re welcome back, as long as it was more than 6 months ago you finished the course.
